Well-known outdoorsman and humorist
Patrick F. McManus treats readers to a taste of his childhood in a volume of short stories called Never Cry Arp! and Other Great Adventures. In a few introductory words to his younger readers, McManus assures them that his stories are true, though perhaps varnished, stretched, and embroidered. Non-stop hilarity with young Pat and his best friend Crazy Eddie Muldoon as they scale a mountain peak or use a parachute and truck fender to sail through a blizzard, tempting fate over and over again. These twelve knee-slapping stories would be great fun for any kid, and fabulous for read-aloud.
